Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano. When she responded to a request to auditions open at age nine, and with little previous experience in acting when she was selected for the role of Flora McGrath role. Flora was the daughter of an Scottish pianist, who was deaf. The couple moved from Scotland to New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to get married. As a teenager, she relocated to America. Paquin began her career in the midst of her childhood with a part as the Jane Eyre title character in the Franco Zeffirelli novel Jane Eyre, and then an important role on the film Fly Away Home. Paquin had a small role in the television movie of 1997 adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. The actress also played the Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She played teenagers as part of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and played the character of the polexia Aphrodisa character in Almost Famous (2000).
