Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends family football scholarship with volunteerism in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that his father was the only of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. In his role as a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
